Governor Ebad rejects backing Kamal’s movement

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Ishratul Ebad Khan on Thursday rejected the impression that he was backing former Karachi mayor Mustafa Kamal.
“Had this been the case, I would have been on the forefront.” he said in reply to a question on whether he is backing Mustafa Kamal - the de facto chief of MQM's dissident group - while talking to media on Thursday while inaugurating construction of an unfinished North bound portion of the Lyari Expressway.
When asked to comment on Mustafa Kamal’s entry into the country's political scene, he said: “I have been reviewing the situation. I think the development can be compared to 18th amendment to the Constitution.”
“The spirit of the 18th amendment calls for devolution of powers and an end to the concentration of powers,” he elaborated, adding, 'political parties sat together to settle the issue of unnecessary concentration of powers and came up with amendment to the constitution'.

The Sindh governor said: “There is no such way out available in political parties. Therefore, in my view this issue (Kamal’s entry) is similar to the 18th amendment”
