PCB welcomes ICC presser, seeks security assurance

LAHORE: Welcoming the ICCs’ decision to shift March 19 match to Kolkata, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan maintained that team’s departure was still linked with security assurance from the Indian government.

“Pakistan has deferred the departure of both men’s and women’s cricket teams pending security assurance from the Indian government and we have also conveyed to the ICC and BCCI that threats issued by various Indian groups are specifically against Pakistani team for the whole tour,” Khan told a news conference in Lahore.

“In addition to Shiv Sena and Congress, even Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also opposed Pakistan’s arrival in India,” he noted.

“We are not sending our teams to India unless Indian government addresses our concerns,” he added.

The PCB chief said that he has also taken the Interior Minister into confidence about the board’s decision
