SC disposes of petitions against PTI, PAT sit-ins

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Friday disposed of petitions filed against sit-ins staged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) at Constitution Avenue in Islamabad.
The apex court disposed of petitions on the request of petitioners.
The five-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the petitions filed by Supreme Court Bar Association, Lahore High Court Bar Association and others bars against the sit-ins.
Chief Justice Jamali remarked that issuing any order in this case is not deemed to be appropriate.
Justice Mian Saqib Nisar remarked that the court had already issued observations for protection of democratic system during previous hearings of the case.
Former President Supreme Court Bar Association Kamran Murtaza appeared before the court and told that petitions had been filed for safeguarding the democratic system.
“It will be better to dispose of these petitions as the two parties have recognized the system,” he said.
